Nov 04, 2017  The fit, finish, and overall quality of the GP100 Match Champion seemed to be outstanding and free of much of the corner-cutting that is becoming industry standard. Working with the GP100 Match Champion over the next several weeks would prove to me that this gun is far from perfect, but it mostly lived up to my initial expectations.Ruger Double Action GP100, SP101, Security Six, RedHawk, Super RedHawk and Alaskan Trigger and Hammer Shim Kits are designed to work with the 3/32 Trigger Pin and a 3/16 Hammer Pin standard on all Ruger Double Action Revolvers.Dec 09, 2013  Update: Hammer Single Action Sear Clarification in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNHWN_2R9T4 In this video I go over the inner workings of the

Ruger GP100 Trigger Job: Why Bother?

May 29, 2014  Be careful for little springs and parts in the trigger assembly area that may go flying is about the only thing to worry about on the GP100. If you don't pull the trigger while the trigger assembly is off the gun you'll be fine. Don't pull the trigger.

Ruger GP-100 Revolver, Spring Tuning Kit 5-piece, 3 reduced power hammer springs 9, 10, 12lbs, 2 trigger springs 8, 10lbs, Wolff USA. Professional installation recommended!Rebound Springs - Trigger rebound springs are common to all Smith & Wesson J, K, L and N frame revolvers. These springs greatly influence the double action trigger pull which is a major concern of competitive shooters. W.C. Wolff company offers reduced power rebound springsNov 10, 2016  I have an SP101 in 22 cal. Came with a 15 1/2 # trigger pull double action. With some use and some spring trimming got it down to 9 lbs. Later I changed to Wolff springs. That gave me 9 1/2 lbs. Left it there. No misfires because of light hits. The single action pull is great, but never use it.

Custom Ruger GP100

Apr 30, 2013  The most important step for the GP100 is an action job. Unlike competitor revolvers that use a leaf-style mainspring, the Ruger GP100 uses coil springs. We started with swapping out the mainspring and trigger-return spring with a Wilson Combat kit, which provides a much lighter pull while retaining reliable ignition.

Jul 17, 2014  Purchased a new 3" GP 100 a couple months ago. Very happy with the gun. Beautiful and very accurate, but the trigger could use some work. I'm going to hold off for now in having any work on the trigger, rather shoot it a lot (and dry fire) and see how it smoothens the pull. What's interesting is that the DA pull is (annoyingly) squeaky.Feb 28, 2018  The GP100 uses a single spring for the trigger return and for the trigger guard (trigger assembly) latch. It is a compromise between a light trigger and the trigger guard latching firmly into the frame of the gun. The stock trigger/latch spring is adequate but a new lighter trigger spring my not be. This is a poor design feature.Apr 18, 2019  While my GP100 had a surprisingly good trigger out of the box i could not help and tinker a little bit more, the DA trigger pull was hard to keep smooth and target but with practice I am sure it would have been fine. There are many posts on the internet with people talking about changing springs on

Smoothing Out a New GP100

Feb 07, 2018  You said you've done a basic trigger job, the video above provides other areas where unsmoothe\unpolished machining can translate into grittiness. I haven't changed any of my springs in my GP100's but I have slicked up the areas shown in the video

Jul 23, 2012  Simple mods make any SP101 a much nicer gun. I installed Wolff springs in my .22LR SP. The factory hammer spring is 16 pounds, and the trigger return spring is 10. Using a Wolff 14 pound on the hammer, with a Wolff 8 pound on the trigger, makes a huge difference reducing both triggerRuger GP100 Revolver 4" Barrel Leather 2 Slot Pancake Belt Holster TAN CCW RH. 5.0 out of 5 stars 6. $44.95 $ 44. 95. $4.49 shipping. The factory mainspring is 14# and the factory trigger return spring is 12# You could probably drop the mainspring to 12# and the trigger return spring to 10# as a good starting point.

Wolff Shooter's Spring Pack Ruger GP100 Reduced Power

Wolff Shooter's Packs contain reliable springs which provide a great improvement in the overall trigger pull and hammer function. Installation requires disassembly and reassembly of the revolver. Kit includes 9, 10, and 12 pound reduced hammer springs and an 8 and 10 pound trigger return spring.

The Ruger SP-101 is a great revolver, but the factory double action trigger pull can be heavy and a bit rough. It can be improved with a "trigger job". Improving the trigger pull involves disassembling the revolver, sanding / polishing surfaces, installing shims, and replacing factory springs with lighter springs.Dec 01, 2006  There are 2 springs in the GP100; the mainspring, AKA "hammer spring", is what powers the hammer. The trigger return spring - Ruger calls it the "trigger latch spring" - is what returns the trigger to its forward position. BOTH springs have an effect on trigger pull weight, and both affect reliability - but in different ways.Sep 08, 2011  I just received my new spring kit from Brownell's with the reduced power springs for my GP100. It came with 5 Wolff springs total. 3 different strengths for the hammer and 2 different strengths for the trigger return. Before changing anything, I called Ruger to find out what the actual spring strength was for the trigger return spring and the

Performing an Action Job on a Ruger Redhawk

Introduction I recently modified a Ruger Redhawk chambered in .45 Colt to also fire .45 ACP by milling the ejector star (refer to my article Converting a KRH .45 LC Redhawk to shoot .45LC and .45ACP).Now I wanted to perform an action job on this revolver.

Nov 14, 2010  Just get the spring kit from wolff and be done with it. Wolff springs are better than the factory springs anyway. Get the shooters pack. I think LD is right on the restricted part but only bc they want to cover that under warranty. I've done the spring installation on both the GP100 and SP101 (same trigger set up) There is no fitting involved.
